More information on
prayer candles!
Brief History:
Candles and incense use can be traced back as early as biblical times.
Exodus 30: 8... and when Aaron sets up lamps…he shall burn it, a
perpetual incense before the Lord… and Revelations 8: 3, 4...to the
angel was given much incense to mingle with the prayers of all saints
upon the golden alter which is before the throne of God.... the smoke of
the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up before God by the
hand of the angel. (Douay-Rheine Bible) ...and it is these prayers
that altered the course of battle and changed the course of history.
Prayer: A lifting up the mind and the heart to God in praise of His
glory; a petition made to God, or in thanksgiving for a good received,
or an intercession for others before God. Through prayer one experiences
a communion with God through Christ. (CCC) Luke 9: 29 ” …and as he
prayed the fashion of his countenance was altered.” …they did all
their wonderful works in the Name of Jesus. They worked miracles, cast
out devils, cured the sick and gave comfort to everyone …using and
recommending to all the habit of invoking the Holy Name of Jesus.*
Symbols: Are so important in our relationship with God and His
story- the use of images, postures, gestures, colors, sounds and smells
are vital in our journey with God.
Candle
Symbol: The beeswax symbolizing the Virgin Mother, the wick
symbolizing the soul of Christ, and the flame representing the divinity
which absorbs and dominates both. (St Jerome) The candles are in keeping
with each individual who is striving to manifest Christ in their lives.
Color
Symbol: The naming of two Lights…Jesus, who is the Light of the
world and like a prism, pure white light vector is divided into all the
colors of the rainbow. Thus the Spiritual Rainbow, alters and causes our
vision to focus on Jesus.
Incense Symbol: The incense, being the spiritual nature of prayer
and the communion of God’s people ascending to God. Psalm 141:2 “Let my
prayer be counted as incense before thee, and the lifting up of my hands
as an evening sacrifice… “
These
candles are hand poured and hand crafted, leaving each candle
individual, no two alike. The burning time varies under the
conditions the candles are burned. A 6” candle burns approximately
120 hours. The 4”candles burns about 80 hours.
